Solaris Upgrade SNAFU

Lately, when installing the recommended patch cluster I find samba doesn’t start up sometimes.

It’s actually one of those simple fixes that could have been prevented from some simple Q&A.

Check the samba log file, in /var/samba/log, I believe and most likely, it will say something about not finding a conf file in /etc/samba/smb.conf. Normally the conf file is at /etc/smf/samba.conf. Just create a sym link to /etc/sfw/smb.conf.

ln -s /etc/sfw/smb.conf /etc/samba/smb.conf
